Meeting and Discussion with the Director of "Epicenter" Shopping Center, Dmytro Lyfar
The higher education standard emphasizes the importance of developing managerial competencies in students, viewing them as two inseparable, interconnected characteristics: personal qualities and professional activities.
For the management students at Kherson Institute, a meeting and discussion was organized with Dmytro Lyfar, the director of the "Epicenter" shopping center in Chernivtsi, on the topic: "Ethical Components of a Modern Manager’s Portfolio and Career Growth."
Dmytro Lyfar shared his professional journey of becoming a top-level manager, including how he switched professions and acquired new knowledge along the way.
The students analyzed the history of the "Epicenter" shopping center's opening, its development, and the challenges it faced during the aggressive phase of the war.
The speaker emphasized that, in wartime, two phenomena—entrepreneurship and leadership—came together. Today, leadership competencies are what keep a business afloat: from startups and scaling to long-term success.
The discussion also covered practical issues such as the recruitment process, the requirements for managerial candidates, and career growth opportunities.
A separate section of the discussion focused on the support provided by "Epicenter" to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Territorial Defense Forces (TRO), and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), as well as the opportunities for our students to participate in these volunteer activities.
During the panel discussion, students demonstrated both general and specialized competencies, particularly those they had acquired in courses such as "Introduction to Management" and "History of Management."
At the conclusion of the discussion, Dmytro Lyfar, as a stakeholder of the Department of Management and Economics, invited students to join the new educational campaign of "Epicenter K," which offers opportunities for young people eager to achieve financial independence and build successful careers. More details are available via the link.
A successful career start with the "Epicenter" team can provide a powerful boost for further professional development. We believe that our students will become the creative managers who will help rebuild and strengthen our beloved Ukraine after Victory!
